RPS were appointed by City of York Council to replace outdated electric heating systems at Alex Lyon House & Honey Suckle House in York, delivering a retrofit programme with a combination of Air Source heat pumps and Solar PV .
Alex Lyon House & Honeysuckle House are retirement properties that comprise of 27 apartments at Alex Lyon House and 35 flats at Honeysuckle House. The project Supports the councils decarbonisation strategy to reduce emissions, improve quality of life for residents and become a Net-Zero city by 2030.
RPS installed 62 energy-efficient Vaillant Air Source Heat Pumps and 199 SunPower Solar Panels across the sites. The measures were delivered to occupied buildings requiring us to forward plan and provide clear Communication, this was vital to the smooth running of the contract and to minimise disruption to residents. Advance notice of work dates that affected the residents use of the building was provided throughout.
Residents now have access to modern, low-carbon heating reducing their energy costs and improving the overall comfort, warmth, and health of the homes whilst lowering the carbon footprint of both apartment blocks.
