Our M&E Division designed and undertook the installation of high efficiency, low carbon Co2 Clade Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) heating systems in Winsford Lifestyle & Christleton Leisure Centres. The works were carried out for our client and principal contractor Equans.
The systems installed were designed to provide heating to serve the buildings swimming pool plate heat exchangers and designed to operate independently to the existing gas boiler plant, with the ASHP serving a proportion of the swimming pool water heating demand.
The design enables the ASHP to divert over to a new plate heat exchanger to supplement the already existing heating load to the swimming pool. This constant demand means that the ASHP run time remains constant all year round.
A new BMS controls outstation for each site was provided to operate the system to its maximum efficiency and was networked with the ASHP onboard controls, various sensors etc which link back to the main head end controls. Works undertaken by RPS on site included strip out of redundant areas of the existing plantroom, and the undertaking of system modifications, making good for the new systems.
Installation of a central Air Source Heat Pump Plant (external compound), new heating pipework and thermal Insulation both Internal & external and new plate heat exchanger for each swimming pool. Mains Power modifications were made within LV switch room / plantroom, which included Fire Alarm System Links via BMS. We undertook the installation of all supplies to Mechanical Services, Equipotential Bonding and Automatic Controls and Wiring.
Works also included all builders works, i.e. : holes, trenching, new walls, craneage and bases.
Full Inspection, testing & commissioning was undertaken by RPS once all works where completed- the project was completed across both sites in 18 weeks.
