Heating Upgrades in Greater Manchester

We have secured a heating replacement contract worth up to £4 million with Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, Manchester’s largest social housing provider.

The three-year programme, which began in April 2026, marks the start of a new partnership between our organisations and is expected to see up to 2,400 properties across Wythenshawe and South Manchester upgraded with modern, energy-efficient gas combi boilers.

We will install around 800 combi boilers a year, and replace ageing radiators where required, supporting Wythenshawe Community Housing Group’s goal of improving the energy efficiency, affordability and comfort of its housing stock.

Our figures, supported by the Energy Saving Trust, show that the latest gas combi boilers are around 30% more energy-efficient than conventional gas boilers.

This means households upgrading on a like-for-like basis could save around £150–£350 a year on heating and hot water costs, depending on the efficiency of their existing boiler, the size of their home and current energy prices.

The contract is the latest in a growing number of retrofit and heating upgrade programmes we have secured across social housing in the North of England

The work also reflects wider investment in domestic heating across Greater Manchester and the North West, as social housing providers look to improve energy efficiency, tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions.

Chosen for our extensive knowledge of legacy heating systems and experience in delivering some of the UK’s biggest social housing retrofit projects, we will work closely with Wythenshawe Community Housing to engage with residents and minimise disruption, while helping to futureproof homes for generations to come.
