For the project at Waterloo Street we were granted the Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing works to all four low-rise blocks on the project which consist of 180 apartments.
Located in the heart of Newcastles Town Centre, the original stone front on the main street remains, whereas through the connecting alleyways, the red brick and glazed apartment blocks surround a small quiet haven of quiet woodland walkways.
The Mechanical works consisted of the central plantroom refurbishment were 2x new Potterton Sirius 250s & 2x Ideal Evomax 500s were installed. Along with a water filtration system, Building Management System Panel, Fire Alarm Control Panel, Heating Pressurisation Unit, Dosing Pot and various Heating & Domestic Controls and Valves which had reached the end of their lifespan.
Pipework insulation, Cladding and pipework Identification have also been replaced throughout our areas of our works to a high standard. So much so, that apart from the new appliances youd never have known we were there!
An entirely new combined flue system was installed to accommodate all the new boilers, of which was bespokely designed to accommodate the existing plantroom pipework & components, it then utilises the existing flue riser to run vertically though several floors to a new roof terminal.
The works to upgrade the heating systems saw the replacement of existing Heat Interface Units, and the design & installation of our Heatlink HIUs and integral control & metering system. Combined with a 135 litre Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage Cylinder, both heating and domestic services were upgraded for performance and efficiency.
All testing & Commissioning for this project has been undertaken in-house and our systems have proved again to be very successful. Though technical in design, the easy to program and easy to use controls have allowed a seamless transition for the residents while all services have remained live during the works.
